Living Room Before and After

Oh, the transformations my home has been going through.
Last year we tackled some mini remodeling projects in our living room.

We are still struggling with this room, but it is coming along.

Here it was just a year ago.

The huge television fit in wonderfully in our old basement before we moved.
It was not working here.
We were just trying to make do until we figured out what we would do with this room.

The paint color was bothering us too.
It wasn't a bad color, it was just too dark for us and for the look we were going for.

We tried several things and then came up with this.
We decided we would build a cabinet into this wall unit that was here.
We then decided it would be best to re-paint the fireplace/mantle to tie it all in together.
We repainted the walls and the wall above the ledge over the wall unit.
We tried many things and finally came up with something we were happy with.

How about a little side by side view?

I sure do hope you see the improvements that I see.
I almost feel like I should apologize to you for making you look at the first picture.  :)
I still have so much to learn but I am working on it.

I'll show you more pictures of this room another time.  :)

Beautiful! I love the white cabinets and fireplace. Your displays are wonderful too. I am especially fond of your baskets on top!

Wow! What a huge difference! You guys definitely did the right thing! I love the creamy cabinets and fireplace. I've always wanted a fireplace. :)

Can I offer one suggestion? Move your accessories on the mantel closer to the picture. It will make them feel a little more cohesive.

What a difference! It looks so much better. Sometimes, I struggle and struggle, too; but it's so rewarding when I finally get something right. Sally
